Happy Valentine’s Day!

This morning Fred sent me an email with this Fallout-themed Valentine he made last year — just in case we were planning a Valentine’s Day blog post. I didn’t really have one planned, but it DOES seem appropriate for today.

I hope you’re all having a lovely Valentine’s Day. If you’re not, check our blog poll (wink wink).

Holiday T-Shirt Giveaway Winner #3

Before we ring in the New Year, I thought we’d pick one more winner for our holiday t-shirt giveaway. This one comes from Ramon Alvarez. With his submission, he gave a short description of the image, so I’ll let Ramon take it from here:

This piece may require a bit of an explanation my my behalf. As you can see Santa is delivering the G.E.C.K (Garden of Eden Creation Kit) from Fallout 2 to this poor fellow but his time has passed on. Santa is wearing a special suit to fight back the radiation, almost everything in the room is burned or destroyed except for a small silhouette where a man was standing which is at the right of the picture. The silhouette is the Bad Karma perk that you can get in all the Fallout games (though maybe not Fallout 3…thats up to you guys).

If this image doesn’t sum up the holidays, I don’t know what does. Congrats on winning one of our new Vault Boy shirts!

A Bethesda Holiday Wish List

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the development house,

Not a creature was stirring, not even Fred

The stockings were hung, by the chimney with care

In hopes that Rock Band, Mario Galaxy, and Bioshock would soon be there…

My apologies…that’s pretty terrible. Nevertheless, it’s Christmas Eve and folks at the office wanted to share what they’re hoping for this holiday season….whether they were naughty or nice…

Holiday T-Shirt Giveaway Winner #1: Andy Barnes…come on down!

A couple of weeks ago, we mentioned that we would be giving away our new Vault Boy shirts to folks that came up with creative Fallout/Holiday “stuff.” We’ve received quite a few entries, and we’ll continue to accept them through the end of the year. That said, we thought we’d start sharing some of the winners.

The first winner (and actually, the first entry we received) is from Andy Barnes, who sent this post-apocalyptic gingerbread house and giant-sized Vault Boy.

Congrats to Andy.

With Christmas being early next week, folks at the office have a little extra time to play some games. For those with plenty of vacation time (including folks who already left for the remainder of the year….BTW, I’m jealous), it’s the perfect time to catch up on all the year’s best games.

Since I’m heading out to Las Vegas tonight, I’ll be playing Phantom Hourglass on the plane. After that, I’ll be playing plenty of games, but not ones that require a console. C’mon big money!

Here’s what other folks will be playing…

Today we will be releasing our final Bethesda Softworks Newsletter for the year of 2007. It’s been an exciting 2007 for us — releasing Shivering Isles, Oblivion GOTY, and Star Trek: Conquest, as well as finally unveiling Fallout 3.

To celebrate the holidays, the newsletter will give access to a couple of Vault Boy-themed wallpapers for your desktop. The first is the image you see above. Be sure to check out the latest newsletter to see the other one, which is currently on my desktop. Hope you enjoy them!

Show us some post-nuclear holiday spirit…win a Vault Boy shirt

Before heading out for our annual Holiday Party last Friday, folks around the office were surprised by a special gift…one of these new Vault Boy Fallout 3 T-shirts. Since we’re already in the holiday spirit, we thought it might be nice to give you guys the opportunity to get one.

So here’s the deal. Send us a picture of your best Fallout-related holiday “thing” to bethblog@bethsoft.com. That should give you plenty of options — maybe a nuked gingerbread house, an ornament, or any holiday decoration of your choice. If we pick your submission, you’ll win your very own Vault Boy shirt.

If you can’t think of anything, maybe consult Emil. And please, don’t send us any food in the mail.

What we’re NOT playing: Let the Party Begin!

So tonight is our office holiday party….it’ll be my first here at Bethesda and it sounds like a great time: good eats, open bar, and a “Casino Night” to follow. It’s nice that it’s on Friday too because folks don’t have to worry about sludging through work the next day. Given that we’ll all be sleeping in tomorrow morning, we thought we tell folks what games we’re NOT playing and the reasons why. (more…)
