This week we’re chatting with Sherri-Lyn (aka Shezrie) from Oblivion’s Real Estate . Shezrie lives in beautiful Bermuda, where she works in legal administration and management. When she’s not working or modding she spends her time working out, belly dancing, poi or staff fire dancing, fencing and riding her motorbike all over the island.
Sounds like quite the adventurous life!

This week’s interview comes from Lon Hammonds (aka Conan_Lon). Deep in the heart of Texas, Lon and his family live in a custom home, and one day they plan to use their land as a pecan farm. In the meantime, Lon works as a certified database administrator and is a computer science wiz. He is also an admin at TES Nexus in his spare time.
On to the the questions…

This week we’re talking with StarX (real name Dimitri), who has been hard at work on his new mod project for Oblivion, StarX Vanilla Vampires Revised. Born and raised in Amsterdam, Dimitri also enjoys spending his free time drawing and painting. Just recently, he moved into a new home with his long-time girlfriend.
On with the questions…

Here’s a few interesting mentions that I thought I’d share.
Starting on the print side, there’s a special issue of PC Gamer out now called “How To: The Ultimate Guide to DIY Gaming” that provides some cool stuff for Oblivion and Fallout 3. For Oblivion, they have a walkthrough called “Create your own zombie massacre,” that offers a 12-step process for creating your own zombie-fest with the PC version of the game. As for Fallout 3, there’s a section at the back of the magazine called “Gaming Papercraft!” that includes a cut out version of our Vault Boy bobblehead. I’m not the best with arts and crafts, so I haven’t yet assembled one, but the final product as it’s shown on the cover of the magazine looks like it’s worth the effort.

This week’s Elder Scrolls mod interview comes from two members of the Nehrim project — a total conversion mod using The Elder Scrolls CS. As a total conversion, its story takes place in a world unrelated to anything in the Elder Scrolls universe, so players can enjoy a new fan-made game from their Oblivion disc. It’s still up in the air as to when the project will be complete, but SureAI’s Arandor and Lord Dagon stopped by to give us an update …

Yarrrr, for this week’s mod interview, we’re chatting with Korana of the BGS forums. Korana, whose real name is Cheryl, lives a pretty exciting life. She recently got engaged, sells booze for a living, and as a resident of Idaho has somehow never seen potatoes grow. Oh yeah, and she’s got a birthday coming up in a few weeks. Congrats on a quarter century of excellence!
As for modding, Korana had done a wide variety of stuff for the Elder Scrolls…just take a gander at her website.
On with the show…
Awhile back, one of our forum members, James Egger (Egger3rd), contacted me about his series of Orc-Blivion videos he’s created using Oblivion and the CS. Originally intended as a project he did for school, it’s grown to have quite a following on YouTube.
Until recently, I only had a chance to watch the first video, but the other day I watched the other four episodes (word is episode six is in the works). There’s really no good way to describe them, but they definitely put a smile on my face. I particularly enjoy the camera cuts used, the music (there’s a few montage moments), and the fact that the videos integrate memorable areas/characters/moments from Oblivion. Also, it helps that I’m a sucker for cheeseball music like Phil Collins (sorry if I’m offending anyone by calling Phil Collins a cheeseball).
Check it out. If you enjoy Orc-Blivion, you might also want to check out RaditzTheRadish’s Argonian series and LordofCorruption’s Bargonian Adventures. You can find all three within this thread in our Oblivion forums.

Some of our best developers working here came from our modding community. They step into their jobs already understanding our tools, processes and pipelines.
So your first step (or one of many possible first steps!) to breaking into the game industry is to make mods. We’re not the only developers who release tools for their games, but assuming you want to make big crazy RPGs like we do, you’re best bet is making mods for our games.
If you are thinking of trying your hand at making mods for Oblivion (or Morrowind), now is a good a time as any. Why? Since Oblivion shipped over a year ago, an enormous amount of documentation, tools and mods have sprung forth along with an amazing modding community to help you learn.
Easy four step process. Ready? Here we go.

A couple of weeks ago I received an e-mail from Stephane Wuttunee (aka Veritas_Secreto) regarding his mod project, Tamriel NPCs Revamped. For this mod, the 39-year-old Canadian recreated nearly every NPC within Oblivion (leaving only guards in the game untouched). I had a chance to ask Stephane a few questions and here’s what he had to say.
