Fallout 3 scores a 10 from OXM!

Now that the December issue of OXM has reached both subscribers and newsstands, we’re happy to announce the game received a perfect 10 (OXM’s review scale does include an 11/10, which they note is absolutely unattainable and is as mythical as finding a unicorn). If you haven’t read the review, be on the lookout for it on newsstands. The 8-page review also includes details on a contest to win a copy of the game signed by Todd Howard.

As awesome as this news is, I seriously dislike OXM’s review style. 10/10 should mean it’s THOROUGHLY flawless, and they said in the review that they had a few small quips. Also, 10/10 for Fight Night round 3 JUST because of its graphics? when they did that, they lost a lot of credibility with me.

Fight Night Round 3 is a great game, so I’m not sure what you’re complaining about. The only problems I have are the easy achievements, but the game itself is awesome.

Sirwootalot, I look at OXM’s review (or any other for that matter) more like 10 out of 10(11) will enjoy Fallout 3 (assuming they like the genre). It’s more of a statement from the reviewer that most, if not all, people will highly enjoy this game. You can’t really place it on a scale of perfection as you’ve described because you really don’t have anything to compare it to. There’s no such thing as a *perfect* game, and therefore, aren’t any ways to scale against perfection.

If it’s already been clarified that it’s actually 10/11, and that 11/11 is “unattainable”, then ‘10′ means that it is as good as any game can be expected to be.

Do feel free to point out any game that you think is 100% flawless. I have yet to even *hear* of one.

10/10 could be 95% rounded up. I much prefer a percentage review score.

Anyway, I’m still massively looking forward to this game!

10/10 is not realistic. That’s basically saying there’s nothing wrong with the game. GTAIV for example got a 10/10 on IGN(who almost never gives out such a score). But that game has lots of glitches not just graphics but animations, and physics can be buggy at times. It seems like they should have separate scores for different categories. Bugs/glitches, innovation, graphics, gameplay, sound. Get rid of overall scores, they’re not realistic. Each game has good/strong and bad/weak areas, so a 10/10 as an overall score isn’t realistic when the player finds a bad or weak area of the game.

Back to the topic, if the gameplay videos and feedback from the press are any indication, than Fallout 3 is going to be a great game.

The amps go up to eleven!

There is a possible eleven.

It is possible to obtain an eleven.

There is an 11.

The scale goes up to 11.

The game got 10 out of a possible 11.

But no game ever gets an 11.

So it got the highest score any game can reasonably get.

Out of a possible eleven.

And not 10.

It goes up to 11, see.

There’s an eleven in the scale.

It’s not 10/10.

They’re not saying it’s 100% perfect, only that it’s as perfect as a game can be.

@ Carey, that’s like saying Fallout 3 is on a par with GTAIV.

See if the scale goes up to 11, and the game gets 10, and that’s the highest score they give out, and they also gave the same sore to GTAIV …

is this a US cover? because i live in Canada and the November copy has Gears on it?

Shawn, that’s the December cover.

Something to say?
