What we’re playing: Let the games begin edition

The 29th Olympic Games kicks off today in Beijing. There’s sure to be plenty of folks from the office following the action, but when I think of “let the games begin,” I’m thinking about the games we’ll all be playing this weekend (looks like Braid is a popular pick this week).

Here’s what we’re playing this weekend. Let us know what you’ll be playing, and what games you think should have their own Olympic events?

Nate Purkeypile: TF2, The Witcher and best of all, Boom Blox.

Joel Burgess: Civ IV, now that Civ DS got me hankering for the full monty.  Also doing the wii fit thing.  Yoga’s tough!   Also planning to roll up a new magic-user in Arcanum.

Ricardo Gonzalez, Grammar Programmer: Fallout 3 by day, Mass Effect by night.  Thinking of playing Braid over the weekend.

Tony “Scandalous” Greco: Braid, CoD4

Phil “Loves Puppies” Nelson: TF2, Soul Calubur IV, Rock Band with the family

Cory Dornbusch, QA Triage Medic: Company of Heroes (and Expansion), TF2 and Fallout 3.

Michael Lattanzia, QA: Company of Heroes, Geometry Wars 2, Age of Conan, Hellgate London, and The World Ends With You, but mostly programming in XNA.

Jesse Tucker, Level Design: TF2, Geometry Wars 2, Boom Blox, will probably download Braid.

Mike Dulany: Braid, Geometry Wars 2, Puppy Wrangling (a game with real-life consequences, if I lose there will be poop on my carpet).

Gary Noonan, Animator of Creatures Great and Small: Fallout 3 (must mean I am working all weekend).

Orin Tresnjak, sleepy: Geometry Wars 2, Braid, painting some Night Goblins.

Matt Weil: Project Reality, Call of Duty 4.

Daryl Brigner: Neverwinter Nights, Team Fortress 2, and possibly Braid.

Sam Bernstein, Speed Runner: Playing the “let’s go explore a cave in West Virginia” game! Oh, and The World Ends With You, Civilization Revolution (360 version), and probably going to pick up Geometry Wars Evolved 2.

Dane Olds, Artist: Braid, Geometry Wars 2, Stalker, Crysis, Age of Conan, New Super Mario Brothers.

Matt Grandstaff, Community Manager: GTA IV, Geometry Wars 2, PixelJunk Eden, Braid.

Canceled a trip to the countryside to work on gaming related stuff, and will watch the Olympics in glorious HD. Will try to find some time for Mass Effect and SPORE Creature Creator, but I doubt it.

Hopefully finishing Mass Effect, and fitting in some Bioshock on the 360. On the PC, mostly Morrowind, but I would like to play some more Half-Life 2 if I get the chance.

… PS: Braid has princesses and bunnies!

Nice to see some Arcanum love. I recently started up a character in that too. :D I’m actually installing Oblivion again now that WoW has started to release its grip on me. Probably will be spending all afternoon and most of the evening installing mods and troubleshooting the inevitable and persistent conflicts that arise from my refusal to limit the amount of mods I use. The funny thing is I’m going to enjoy every moment of it. That’s how Morrowind/Oblivion mod gaming goes for me. :P

Someone one relay this message to Sam Bernstein, The Moth man Lives in the caves of West Virginia, and it is said that he reaps the souls of unsuspecting video game workers just for fun :D

I just started playing Oblivion with official mods and expansion - otherwise vanilla. And I enjoy it, I just have to take it as an action adventure/exploration game with a light rpg elements.Thank you level scaling.

On an olympic note, the first gold goes to us, hooray : ).

I’m going through a nostalgic patch.

I’m playing Final Fantasy X again. Remember when we all thought this game had amazing graphics?

Playing Braid. It’s actually pretty tough in spots, and it has a very creative art style.

Gears of War, Geometry Wars 2, Too Human Demo but I will be busy playing with my Apple TV which is really awesome.

Chris, we met this Moth man, he was surprisingly pleasant, he offered us tea.

Arcanum!! I started that up a month ago in attempts to actually beat it this time. (Progress so far: not good.) Regardless, any game that allows me to be not just a molotov-chuckin’ dwarf, but a molotov-chuckin’ dwarf who regularly goes binning for rags and revolver/flintlock parts in Tarant *breath* is an awesome game.

Strangely, Arcanum + IGN’s Fallout coverage got me hankerin’ for the original Deus Ex, so I fired that up, too. I’m proud to report I beat Liberty Island using only tranq darts, the stun prod and a combat baton. Oh, and lots and lots of lockpicks/multitools.

I’m suprised some of you play Project Reality.

I got SO sick of Project Reality. I used to be way into it, but then my character really screwed up in level 17.

Something to say?
